Key Facts for an ergonomic workplace

No Matter if Remote or in the office.

Screen work can be stressful in the long run. To reduce these stresses, you must also pay attention to an ergonomic design of the workplace. Here are the key facts that should be adapted to your needs:

Ergonomisch optimaler Arbeitsplatz
Desk chair

The seat height should be adjusted so that the upper and lower legs form an angle of approx. 95° (with the entire seat surface utilized and feet fully on the floor). When working at a computer screen, always use the armrests to relieve pressure on the shoulder and neck area. These should be set high enough so that the elbows rest loosely on the armrests, with the forearm and upper arm forming at least a 90° angle.

Monitor

The upper edge of the screen should be below eye level. The distance between your eyes and the screen should be approx. 80 cm. Tip: if you have two screens, the primary screen should be centrally located in front of you, depending on the usage ratio.

Mouse and Keyboard

The keyboard should be about 5-10 cm from the front edge of the table. The mouse to the right or left of it. Tip: If you do not use armrests, approx. 2/3 of the forearm should rest on the table surface.

Desk

The height of the work desk should be about the same height as the armrests. In addition, your main work task should always be positioned centrally in front of you. Tip: If your work desk is too high, you can adjust the height of your work chair so that your lower arm and upper arm form a 90° angle. The resulting distance of the feet to the floor can be compensated by a shoe box or similar. Tip: Do you have a standing workstation? You have the correct height when the elbows rest loosely on the table surface, while the forearm and upper arm form at least a 90° angle.
